Today I am happy to introduce to you Susi, from Arcadian Lighting. She's going to share with us a few DIY ways to update your home lighting.
Hi, I'm Susi, a writer over at
Arcadian Lighting, where I focus on
lighting fixtures and decor ideas for the home. I'm excited to be visiting I've Gotta Guy today to share some easy ways to update your lighting. I've pulled together eight DIY projects for easy updates that can transform an existing light or create a stunning new lighting fixture without breaking the budget. Enjoy!
A great place to put your DIY skills and creativity to use is in updating your lighting. Start with the shade and give it a new color, a ribbon, a pattern or a trim. This ombre shade is a nifty DIY project.
Update your lighting by finding copies or DIY projects that replicate a high end design you love. Think outside the lighting store for one of a kind lighting, like this basket pendant.
A plain shade has so much potential for updating. This white shade has been given a metallic silver lining that creates a lovely reflection when the lamp is lit.
This is a great DIY project for more than just lamps: use a Sharpie oil paint pen to doodle cool patterns on solid colored lamps. Or pick a colored pen and embellish a shade. Cheap, easy, creative.
String
pendant lights have a great vintage style to them. This one is a DIY pendant light, if can you believe it. I love the mod feeling it has.
Here's a great way to upcycle wine bottles: turn them into pendant lights. Using an easy light kit from the hardware store or Ikea, you can turn many objects into cool pendant lights like these.
Would you believe this contemporary light is a rice paper lantern adorned with scraps of paper? An amazing way to update the ubiquitous plain round lantern light.
Similar in construction to the string pendant, this
pendant light is a clever DIY light made from doilies. What a great use for those incredibly crafted doilies.
