Healthy Baby Boutique

Another branch of Healthy Baby Boutique opened up in Wichita, this time on the East side of town located by Central and Rock. They started in Newton, opened a west side location, and now on to the east.

Come check out the boutique with me, and at the end of the post - a giveaway!

It's a shop full of all things baby. Everything from handmade items to clothes to toys.

My wife (who is pregnant if you didn't know) and I went to register there the other day. I can't tell you how excited she was to see all of this cool stuff. You can also register on their e-commerce site.

This is a pacifier pod... a small thing to carry a pacifier in. Who knew they had such a thing?!

I'm going to try and get my wife to register for this Dalmatian dog... he would be perfect for the nursery, in my mind.

So are tutu's like an everyday thing? I'm going to have to get used to this...

They also have a really small shoe section for babies. Some of them are the Healthy Baby brand and are made by a local grandmother. She makes these little booties below.

The giraffe is pretty cool too.

Continuing on to the land of cool toys. These aren't your run of the mil toys, they are new and different.

Here we go. If I get to dress my little girl, she will be wearing this... just like her Dad.

Every kind of stuffed animal toy you can think of... and when they can, Healthy Baby buys local products.

And now, onto one of the things that they are most proud of... cloth diapers.  They have the largest selection of cloth diapers in Kansas.

It's not what you are thinking, cloth diapers have come a looooooong way on the easy side.

Here are the six benefits that Healthy Baby told us about cloth diapers are...

1. Money savings - An average family will save from $2,000 - $3,000 per child over disposables, if used over time.
2. It's better for baby - because diapers are made with natural materials, there is no chemical exposer and kids generally get less diaper rash.
3. Better for the environment. - It takes a normal diaper 500 years to start to decompose!
4. Potty training - Kids who wear disposable diapers are more likely to learn how to potty train earlier and easier.
5. They are stylish! - They aren't just cloths and pins anymore, they look like little swim trunks.
6. Most families experience less leaking with cloth diapers, they contain better.

Ok, for all those of you who are still thinking this is a difficult and not smart idea watch this:

This is how you do it.

1. On the left you see the old cloth diaper - you do not have to use this anymore.
2. In the middle and right are the new versions of cloth diapers - with snap or velcro, no more rubber pants.
3. These are the outside of the cloth diapers. They can last the whole diaper time of your child. You will probably want a couple just to switch out, but they last a long time. The modern cloth diapers last for many many years, so you can use them for several kids.

4. Next you put down a washable cloth liner, (made from wood or rice pulp), and what I call a filter piece. Here's the crazy part. The washable liner collects the "liquid" and the filter collects the "solids" if you get my drift. Then all you have to do is flush it (filter and all)

Toss the wet diaper in the wash. Easy as 1-2-3!

Now, that's not what you were thinking right? It's so much easier and cleaner now with these filter pieces.

Say you are traveling, or you have a sitter coming over and you just want to do regular diapers. No worries, just use these! They are similar to regular diapers, but they are environmentally friendly. These go in the cloth covers, don't have chemicals that the disposable ones do and will biodegrade in 90 days.

Need another plus? Some brands disposable inserts are even cheaper than regular diapers. Take that.

They also have Green cleaning products available and Bum Bum Balm. I just thought this was funny.
Make your own detergent!

Lots of handmade blankets, clothes and burp cloths...
And the tinniest shopping cart I have ever seen!
