Worship Local: Dale Huntington of Shine Like Stars

As you know, I'm all about supporting local. Local bands included. But supporting a local band whose only purpose is to glorify God? Now that's a local band I can get downright passionate about.

Meet Shine Like Stars. If you're a Wichita resident you may be familiar with their "fresh punk and emo" sounds from worship at City Life Church.



Not only are these talented musicians all about serving the Lord but they are also about supporting their Wichita community.

After moving from sunny Southern California to Wichita, KS, in 2008, Dale Huntington and his wife and fellow band member, Ashley, joined up with Wichita locals to form this musical group.

Dale Huntington said that for he and his wife, "Wichita has been a great place to live and tour from."

The band's support for the Wichita community is more than obvious in the release of their latest CD, "Beauty in the Storm." Images of Wichita are present in in most of their promotional materials. This is Shine Like Star's second full length album and fourth CD. 

"Ashley and I really think Wichita is a cool place and we decided to put Wichita in all our pictures, CD cover and even our new shirt design," said Dale.

Even their newest music video was produced by Wichita local, Justin Cary.

Album covers, CD release parties and music videos are all very cool, but Dale says everything they do is always for the Church.

"We are a worship band and we exist to write songs for the Church," Dale said. "That is our goal. Not to sell CDs and get popular but to give voice to the yearnings in the hearts of the Church."
