Cero's: Homemade candy and sweet treats

The other day I stopped by Cero's Candies in downtown Wichita. The candy shop that has been around for many generations, ok around 125 years! Still making the wonderful confections from back in the day, and some new creations also.

This is the original fondant mixer. It's about 100 years old, and still is cranking out the most delicious candy.
A copper kettle where they can heat up the sugar to a millionth degrees.

And the original marble cooling table, this thing probably weighs a ton, has a few cracks from the years.. but still does the job perfectly.

These pecans were getting ready to be transformed into Turtles.

And the silicon molds help the candy keep certain shapes and painted on designs.

Ok - it's not really called Fluff... it's actually called cream centers. Crazy flavors that go inside the chocolate bites is made in the bakery.
 Chocolate ready for dipping.
The chief mix master awaits his next job in the kitchen.

The chocolate is slowly melted in this turning machine. It's really fun to watch the huge hunk of chocolate slowly transform into rich velvet.
And a really cool demonstration of how chocolate is dipped and swirled to perfection by one of the chocolatier specialists.
After dipping, they are set to cool with in their tiny wrappers.
And a small dot on top helps identify which flavor you are about to gobble up.
Wrapped up and ready for Valentines day!
Here are the older Ceros labels... they are getting ready to reveal their new branding with new boxes and their signature color on the labels.
We had a pepermint marshmallow tasteoff between a popular brand Plush Puffs and Cero's new homemade peppermint marshmallow...
The over-the-top winner was Cero's. I'm not just saying this because we were taking a tour, these were not even comparable to the plush puffs. The texture was smooth instead of grainy, and the taste was subtle, not so pungent like the other. Would be so good in hot chocolate!
Here's a sneak peek at the new labels coming out!

Make sure to get your Valentines orders in quick, stop by or call in.
Or skip the traditional chocolates and get something fun like toffee.
All truffles are also handmade, just like every candy here.

Artistically swirled Saigon Cinnamon truffles...
Since they are switching over to their new color branding, the sign on douglas is in the process of being painted. Take a walk down the main strip and see the switch happen.
And you might as well stop in and "Say yes to chocolate", by tasting some of the finest candies in Wichita.
They also participate in 2nd Saturday with local Wichita shops. If you stop by you can receive special deals. Follow Ceros on Facebook, their website and twitter.
